Presentation Description:
What does it mean to be part of the Body of Christ? Why is Christianity not merely an individual pursuit? What gifts does Jesus gives to each of us through the Church, and how do these gifts equip us to serve others? In this session, we will explore why the Church matters in our faith lives and how the beliefs, practices, and gifts of the church enable us to share hope and life with the world!

Bio:
Christa Petzold is a pastor’s wife and stay-at-home mother of four. She holds a master’s degree in theology from Concordia University Irvine, a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and Lutheran secondary education from Concordia University Wisconsin, and is currently pursuing a PhD in church history through Concordia Seminary, Saint Louis. She lives with her family in Bartlett, Illinois, and spends her time homeschooling, reading, writing, and studying church history. She is the author of Gathered by Christ: The Overlooked Gift of Church, Male and Female: Embracing Your Role in God’s Design, and New Augsburg.

Presentation Description: Just as I am: Joy Despite Brokenness
After a couple decades of struggling with anxiety and depression, Amy opted to bring these issues to light to shatter the common stigmas that attach to mental health and to believers experiencing brokenness.  She highlights the unexpected purposes and usefulness of our weaknesses in the hands of an all-powerful God.

Bio:
Amy Skogerboe is an inspirational speaker and believer in Christ with a passion for influencing others to live their faith life to the full! With degrees in education and educational leadership, Amy is currently ministering as a pastor’s wife just outside of Chicago.  She is a proud mother of 5 grown boys through birth and adoption and currently the foster momma of 3 littles, Calvin, Kimmy, and Mercy.
 

Rev. Michael Salemink

Bio
Pastor Salemink has served Lutherans For Life since 2015.  His prior parish experience includes a decade at a large congregation with a vibrant day school and lots of catechism classes, chapel services, and Bible studies.  A father of three boys, fan of sports and music, and avid runner, he writes regularly and speaks nationwide - including youth gatherings and teachers' conferences - equipping Lutherans and their neighbors to be Gospel-motivated voices For Life.
